Why the south of Morocco is one of
the best places to find meteorites.
The land around Erfoud and Rissani is dry, flat and pale. This makes dark stones easy to see. Some stones have been waiting on the surface for thousands of years.
Add many years of desert knowledge from our family, and you get one of the most productive zones in the world. Many of the most famous Martian meteorites in science today were found in this area.

Six simple steps. Every step is real. You can ask us to send photos and GPS for any stone.
We plan the trip
We pick the area, check the weather, and use our notes from past trips.
We walk and look
Our team walks the desert at slow speed and looks at every dark stone.
We check the stone
We check the surface, the weight and the magnet test. Most stones are not real. Some are.
We log the find
We take a photo where it lies, save the GPS, and put each stone in its own bag.
Back to the workshop
The stones come to our workshop in Erfoud. We clean them, weigh them and prepare them.
